Since 1990, the Thuringian State Museum Heidecksburg has had its own publishing house, which has produced more than 50 publications. While the initial aim was to satisfy a basic need for information on the history of the Princely House of Schwarzburg-Rudolstadt, over the next few years these were followed by subject areas summarised in the series on Schwarzburg art and cultural history and in collection catalogues. Other book and publication series deal with the history of Froebel's pedagogy and natural science topics.
